Presidential Disability & the 2024 Election

Most political pundits predict the 2024 presidential election will come down to Joe Biden and Donald Trump. On the day our next president takes office — January 25, 2025 — Biden will be 82 years old and Trump 78. Actuarial tables forecast a life expectancy of 7.32 years for a 82 year old male and 9.43 years for a 78 year old male. Therefore,either Biden or Trump, if elected, can be reasonably expected to live out their term of office.
But the issue is not just one of longevity but of disability as well.
Many past presidents served their terms in office while dealing with serious health issues. They made decisions affecting the health and welfare of the citizenry of the US even as they pursued — sometimes ineffectively — medical intervention. This list includes the following:

Professor Emeritus Kevin Loughlin will delve into the health issues plaguing US presidents and presidential candidates. He will lead a discussion on the various pieces of legislation aimed at addressing these issues and what could be done in the future.
