More about author Lisa Belkin, a politics major who admitted in a 2002 PAW interview that during college “she lived at the Daily Princetonian. The DP was my graduate school and John McPhee is God.” (The full interview is linked here); Lisa Belkin is an award-winning journalist and the author of narrative nonfiction books, including Show Me a Hero, made by David Simon into an HBO miniseries. Her career at the New York Times includes stints as a national correspondent, medical reporter, and contributing writer for the New York Times Magazine

More about Belkin’s book, Genealogy of a Murder:  Weaving together genealogy, sociology, and history, award-winning journalist Lisa Belkin explores the multigenerational tale of three families whose paths collide one summer night in 1960 with the murder of a police officer. The result of nearly a decade of research, Genealogy of a Murder reveals how the perpetrators and the victims were influenced by forces out of their control, some set in motion long before they were even born.
