Holiday Cocktail Making Workshop (Virtual)

DIY Yourself to a More Festive Holiday Season

Friday December 11th 2020 at 7pm on ZOOM

In this virtual, hands-on workshop, we will learn how to make several holiday-specific cocktails from avid amateur mixologist and noted charmer, Derrick Peavy. The plan is to learn how to make at least three specific holiday-themed cocktails over the course of the workshop in real time. Then we will share our experiences ---pro and con --- as we taste our creations.

Drink #1: The Karen:
Gin
Cointreau
Lemon juice
Lime twist
 
Drink #2: The “Leap Year”

Gran Marnier
Red vermouth
Lemon, lime
 
Drink #3: The "Winter Solstice”
Amaro Montenegro
Red vermouth
    Bourbon
    Walnut Bitters

You are welcome to substitute or eliminate as taste and availability determine. Here are some lovely options:

  • Liquor (rum, whiskey, gin, vodka, tequilla, etc.)

  • Holiday spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, etc.)

  • Herbs (rosemary, sage, thyme, garlic, ...

  • Tangy flavors (orange, lemon, cherry)

  • Candy (peppermint...)

  • Salt, pepper

We will post more up-to-date ingredient lists as that information becomes available.

Equipment

You will ideally have measuring and mixing tools available during the workshop. You might want to have cocktail glasses onhand.

You may also want to have a source of flame on standby.

Derrick Peavy is an Atlanta entrepreneur as well as an amateur mixologist. Self-taught, he invented his own special twist on the negroni. His favorite cocktail is the expresso martini. Derrick has led virtual mixology workshops throughout the South, notably at SUUSI. In his spare time he enjoys kitchen innovation and renovation.

Derrick will post detailed drink recipes and instructions after the workshop.
