Inspirational Talk by Dr. Matthew Weed (MPA '95)

Attend an inspirational talk about innovation, exploration and achievement in spite of tremendous challenges

Dr. Matthew Weed is the first totally blind and brittle type 1 diabetic to graduate from Yale University (BA in Political Science, 1993; PhD in Genetics, 2004). He also holds degrees from Harvard (MA in Genetics, 1996) and Princeton (MPA, 1995).

Matthew co-created one of the first methods for making electronic text available to the reading challenged. In partnership with the American Diabetes Association, Matthew conceived and is currently helping plan an initiative meant to educate diabetics about foods that taste good and meet expert-approved nutritional guidelines. He has mentored and inspired many students, nearly all of whom have gone on to careers in the sciences, technology and health professions and beyond.
