José Mateo Ballet Theatre (JMBT) is a vibrant and diverse community of artists, arts educators, students, audience members, and partnering organizations working at the intersection of artistic excellence, innovation, and social change. Directed by Cuban-born founder José Mateo (Princeton ’73), the company developed from a single studio dance school (founded in 1986) into the largest minority led performing arts organization in Greater Boston.  The organization consists of a Performing Company, Ballet Training School and project called Dance for World Community.
